I am after 12 string spacing . I'm thinking of a 1 7/8 " at the nut . and 2 3/8 " at the saddle . What space do you leave between the paired strings at the nut.........and the bridge ? I don't mean between E,A ,D etc. I mean the small space between the unisons |

For the one I am building now... 1 7/8th nut 0.07 between each in a pair 0.19 between pairs This matches what Taylor Guitars uses |

1 7/8 nut and 2 3/8 saddle is going to be pretty tight on a 12 string. My 12 strings are 2" nut 2 1/2" saddle. |

My last 12 string client wanted it to feel "pretty much like his 6 string". So I gave it a try. I went down to 1 13/16" and suprisingly it played great. Not much finger picking, but that won't happen on a 12 string unless you are Leo. It's very easy to grab the right pair when fretting. I'd say go for the 1 7/8". Should feel pretty nice. |
